Just as humans need oxygen to breathe, a car needs oxygen for the combustion process. The air filter prevents any insects, dust, particles, sand, or debris from reaching the engine and ensures a good mixture of air and fuel to support performance.

SYMPTOMS:

  • poor acceleration
  • strange noise
  • decreased fuel economy
  • poor engine performance

TOOLS:

  • wrenches
  • screwdrivers
  • pliers
  • wrapper and string or rubber band
  • detergent
  • wash bowl

MATERIAL:

  • new air filter

PROCEDURES:

  • open the air filter housing
  • disconnect the hoses
  • wrap the opening of the hoses just to make sure no dirt gets in
  • take out the air filter
  • remove the housing and wash it
  • let it dry for about 30 to 45 minutes
  • put the housing in its place
  • put the new air filter
  • close the housing
  • connect the hoses
  • done

REMINDER:

  • the air filter must be changed if it is damaged or if it has reached 19,000 to 24,000 km
