The positive Crankcase Ventilation valve is an important part of a car’s engine. They help to keep the oil clean and prevent it from backing up into the engine. A PCV valve helps remove fumes and moisture from the engine, and if it’s dirty, it can cause all sorts of problems.
SYMPTOMS:
- poor fuel economy
- lack of power
- oil leaks
TOOL:
- screwdrivers
- pliers
MATERIALS:
- cleaning solution
- masking tape
- clean rag
- gloves
- face shield
PROCEDURES:
- remove the hose clamp
- unscrew the valve using a hand or a plier
- clean all of its parts with a carburetor cleaner
- let it dry for 20 to 30 minutes
- reinstall the cleaned PCV valve
