The positive Crankcase Ventilation valve is an important part of a car’s engine. They help to keep the oil clean and prevent it from backing up into the engine. A PCV valve helps remove fumes and moisture from the engine, and if it’s dirty, it can cause all sorts of problems.

SYMPTOMS:

  • poor fuel economy
  • lack of power
  • oil leaks

TOOL:

  • screwdrivers
  • pliers

MATERIALS:

  • cleaning solution
  • masking tape
  • clean rag
  • gloves
  • face shield

PROCEDURES:

  • remove the hose clamp
  • unscrew the valve using a hand or a plier
  • clean all of its parts with a carburetor cleaner
  • let it dry for 20 to 30 minutes
  • reinstall the cleaned PCV valve
