Your car brakes are meant to keep you from getting into an accident and the lights warn others that your vehicle is slowing down.

ISSUE:

• when stepping on the brake pedal, sometimes the brake light comes on, and sometimes it doesn’t

CHECKED:

• the brake light bulbs and fuses are ok

PROBLEM:

• faulty brake light switch

TOOLS:

• screwdrivers
• wire cutter

MATERIALS:

• electrical contact cleaner
• sandpaper
• multimeter (optional)

PROCEDURES:

• remove the brake light switch
• dismantle the brake light housing
• sand the terminals
• spray with electrical contact cleaner
• reassemble the brake light housing
• install the brake light switch
• done
