Over time, the tensioner bearing will begin the grease to dry out, resulting in a sound that is loud enough to be annoying.

SYMPTOMS:

• grinding noise
• deafening sound

PROBLEM:

• tensioner bearing

TOOLS:

• jacks (mechanical or hydraulic)
• jack stands (at least 2)
• wrenches
• allen wrench

MATERIALS:

• bearing grease
• clean rags

PROCEDURES:

• remove the compressor belt
• loosen the tensioner bearing then remove the serpentine belt
• remove the tensioner bearing
• remove the rubber seal from the bearing
• pack grease into the bearing
• put the rubber seal on the bearing
• install the bearing
• put the serpentine belt
• tighten the belt using the allen wrench
• put the compressor belt
• done

option:

• replace with a new tensioner bearing if you have enough budget
